We have come to the end of our 4th year since reforming underage football at the Oisin club. I would like to say it was a successful year for the club but their were many challenges we had to face in the year, our most challenging being the integration of Go Games into our current Lancashire setup. This work is not yet done and great deal more effort is required collectively to achieve the Croke Park objective of delivering the Go Games ethos as the way to bring kids through the underage structure. A new Games Development Officer has been appointed for Lancashire in the season just past and we hope this will deliver results in the coming year. There was only one competitive tournament all season for U10's & U12's thanks to Steve Neary from the Oisin club for organising it. Steve organised and ran a Lanchashire Under 10 and Under 12 league which proved very successful. Oisin's won both competitions narrowly defeating St. Lawrences in both finals. Therefore Oisin Under 10's retained the Lancashire league title, and the Under 12's won the Lancashire league for the first time since 1989. We had two players on the county Under 14 team that travelled to Ireland to play in the Feile competition, Aidan Duffy, and James Lambe. We had three players on the county Under 16 team that were unlucky to be beaten in the All Britain semi final against Warwickshire, these were Joseph McCormack, Jonathan Moran, and Sean Dwyer.
Presentation EveningWe held a very successful presentation night at Old Bedians on November 8th.The Under 10's and Under 12's were presented with their league trophys, and the coaches chose the players of the year for each age group. They are as follows :
The club would like to thank Kevin McCormack, Pat Scally & Steve Neary who work hard all year round, and all the parents who helped out during the year. Training for the underage resumes at Old Bedians Sports Centre, Didsbury, on Tuesday 31st March 08, commencing at 6.30pm. We are also starting up an underage Oisin North side based in the Prestwich area headed up by Kevin McNeill and Greg O Brien. Training is to start on towards the end of March at St Mary`s Park. We would also like to thank Tom Hanvey and Richard Coss who have kindly volunteered to help with the underage this year, they will be a big asset to the team. If anyone is intrested in playing or getting involved with the underage at Oisin club, please contact Pat Scally on 07714-521455 or Kevin McCormack on 07828-012882. We have U10's, U12's, U14's & U16's teams and are always looking for new players & mentors.
